Coppermine

DRUPALWhat is Coppermine?
Coppermine is a free gallery script released under the GNU GPL license. The script uses PHP, a MySQL database, and either the GD library (version 1.x or 2.x) or ImageMagick to generate and keep records and file information of all thumbnails, intermediate and full-sized images.

The system requirements are very minimal:

  • PHP 4.4.1 or greater
  • MySQL 3.23.23 or greater
  • GD library or ImageMagick support

Our web servers fully meet the script’s requirements. 100WebSpace.com is the best place to install and use this great gallery script.

The galleries that you've created can be private or open to all visitors of your site. The user administration tool allows you to give different access permissions to all the albums created for each user on your gallery. A user can upload pictures using a browser (thumbnail and intermediate sized images are created on the fly), rate pictures, add comments and so on. It's up to you to determine which of the features listed above are accessible to registered and non-registered users. There's an option to manage galleries and batch process large numbers of pictures that have been uploaded onto the server via FTP.

How it works
Firstly, you have to create a folder for each album. Upload the pictures to the album folders. The best way to do so is to use an FTP client. The Coppermine script allows HTTP upload as well, but our advice is to use FTP. It's safer than HTTP. The FTP supports the “retry” function which allows you to upload the images successfully onto your hosting account. The image files could be stored in albums and the albums can be grouped into categories, which in turn, can be further grouped under parent categories. Coppermine supports multiple users. It provides you with tools to set up different user permissions. You can also allow users to upload files to public albums. Permissions to create albums, upload and delete files are all determined by the Coppermine administrator as well.

You can configure the Coppermine application using the Administration panel. We also recommend that you check the Coppermine documentation: http://coppermine.100webspace.net/coppermine/docs/index.htm

The documentation URL of your Coppermine site should be: http://yourhost.com/docs/index.htm
