04 Dec 2008 - Customers' File Manger Version 2.01 Released

Dear customers of 100Webspace Hosting, meet the new version 2.01 released of our File Manager software tool, available to all our customers in their Web Hosting Control Panel. The new substantially updated file management tool has much enhanced functionality with lots of new features and handy options. An ultimately safe and easy management of all files and folders in your hosting account is now guaranteed!

Few months ago we gave you a short review of what to expect in the new File Manager version coming soon (news title - '04 Aug 2008 - New File Manager in Our Clients' Control Panels-COMING SOON'). To this rich set of features we have added even more updates and functionalities. Let's take a look at the additional file management facilities introduced in the new File Manager version 2.01:

1. File/folder tooltips (you can open the file/folder tooltips by clicking on a file name/or a folder type icon) - in this File Manager version the 'Download' and 'Open' options are presented separately. (Previously, they were featured as one Open/Download activity).

2. Actions toolbars - new 'Download' buttons have been inserted in the up and down Actions toolbars. The new action gives you the opportunity to select multiple files for download. The chosen items are automatically generated in a .ZIP archive and downloaded to your PC.

3. Folders can also be downloaded now. The folders download is based on the same principle as the multiple files download.

4. Archive/ZIP folder option is introduced. It makes a .ZIP file from a selected directory and saves the archive on the server.

5. A new item has been added to the file/folder information fields in the File Listing Panel. It's an editable 'Permissions' link. By clicking on it, you can gain access to the permissions set for a specific directory location and make necessary changes.

6. Enter custom 'Path' - this is a new field, allowing users to enter the name of a directory that they wish to view listed in the File Manager's File Listing Panel. This option is intended to save time for all of you who want to quickly open well-known file/folder locations without having to browse to them.

7. 'Mousing display' function is available for all file/folder names in the File Listing Panel. You need to only mouse over a file/folder (not fully displayed) to see its entire name.

8. Another new option - you are able now to sort your files and folders by Name and Size. NOTE: By Name can be listed all files and folders, while the Size option is available only for the files' list.

9. The Plain Text Editor of the File Manager has also undergone a significant update work. Many fixes have been performed to be improved its functionality. The following new features have been introduced:

  • 'GO TO LINE' field - this is a new field wherein users can type a number of a line that needs to be edited and then, pressing the 'Enter' key, move directly onto it (for example, very helpful in cases such as "syntax/fatal error on line 54").
  • Up until now, the saving and closing the window actions were performed by one button - 'Save'. With this update, a new button was added - 'Apply Changes', which will do only the saving/applying the last changes part, while another one - 'Save And Close', will be confirming the saving process and closing the window.
  • Saving option with Ctrl+S key combination is also available in this File Manager version.
  • Support for syntax check of the PHP code has been added, as well.

We hope that all our customers will truly enjoy working with the newly updated File Manager software tool. If you have any comments or suggestions, please send us your feedback - we are always gratefully considering our customers' point of view!

With Best Regards, from 100Webspace Hosting

04 Aug 2008 - New File Manager in Our Clients' Control Panels-COMING SOON

Dear present and prospective customers, today we introduce a new File Manager to our system. All of you who have signed up for a web hosting account with us, or are planning to do so, will have the exceptional opportunity to operate with the new advanced in-house developed tool that has already been integrated in the Web Hosting Control Panel (you receive/or have received with your account). You can easily manage all your web hosting files with the new software, and co-operate with our web hosting system absolutely hassle-free. Here is some more information about our new development:

This advanced File Manager version was created by our professionals to suit our customers' utmost requirements for ease, convenience and high-tech features, all integrated within exceptionally user-friendly interface. Key basis for the creation of the tool was the need for better navigation, time-savier and visualization tools.

    Features and functionalities include:

  1. Create New File/Folder - In this field you can create new empty files and folders. You can choose either option by selecting the corresponding radio button.
  2. Disk Usage - This field provides for you up-to-date graphic and numerical information of how much disk space you have utilized and how much remains free.
  3. Quick Links Path - In the previous File Manager version, the history path name, displayed above the panel with your listed files, was static. Here, it is replaced by a dynamic 'quick links' path name, providing for you easy access to each sub-level of your current directory. The 'Quick Links Path' field actually displays the name of the current directory, you have selected by browsing through the folders in the File Listing Panel, in the form of dynamic history path name links.
  4. Quick Host Shortcuts - This dropdown enables you to directly select a host from a list containing all your hosted domains and sub domains.

  5. File Listing Panel

5.1. Check boxes - By means of check boxes, in the first column of the File Manager's File Listing Panel, you can select multiple files/folders in order to perform certain actions (Copy, Delete, etc.).

5.2. Type Icons - By means of type icons, this column gives you easy orientation and quick information about the type (folder/file - text, image, archive etc.) of the document related to the icon.

5.3. File/Folder names - Our new File Manager introduces a new approach to the management of your files and folders in the form of intelligent tooltips, providing you with an easy access to all actions that can be performed per selected file/folder.

    • File tooltip - is activated upon left-click of the mouse on the name of the file. Opens an Info panel containing details about the file's name, type and size, and two dropdowns. The Permissions dropdown allows you to reset the permissions for the selected file. The Actions dropdown lists all actions (Edit, Copy, Delete, Open in web, View image, Open in WYSIWYG Editor, etc.) that can be performed per selected file.

    • Folder Tooltip - is activated upon left-click of the mouse on the type icon of the folder and opens an Info panel containing details about the name of the folder, and two dropdowns. The Permissions dropdown allows you to reset the permissions for the selected folder. The Actions dropdown lists all actions (edit, copy, delete, download folder as Zip archive, etc.) that can be performed per selected folder. * Note that, if you click on the name of the folder, instead of the folder type icon, the folder file content will be listed.

5.4. Actions icons - next to the file/folder names are displayed all action icons available per file/folder - for quick selection of a desired action to be performed for the corresponding file/folder. Each button opens a smart tooltip, showing details for the action that is to be performed.

5.5. File Size - presents information on the size of each file.

5.6. Permissions - presents information on the current permissions set for each file/folder.

5.7. Last Accessed/Last Changed dropdown menu - allows you to switch between both options - 'Last Accessed' and 'Last Changed', upon your desire or need to view the corresponding class of information displayed in the last column of the File Manager's File Listing Panel.

  6. Actions Toolbar

The actions toolbar contains a convenient set of tools for multiple files/folders editing. You can select a number of files/folders and press any of the buttons available - Move, Copy, Delete, Change Permissions, to perform the according action. If you use the option 'Select All' files/folders, the changes you make will take effect in all files/folders in the current directory.

With the newly added 'Reload' button you can reload the File Manager's File Listing Panel without the need to refresh the whole web page.

  7. File Upload Field

With the new File Manager you can upload an unlimited number of files, without exceeding, however, a total size of 20 MB at once. For your convenience, the file upload boxes have been organized now to appear in an intelligent cohesive order - right after you have filled in a box, the next one will show up.

The new file upload functionality also supports an option to upload .ZIP, .RAR, .TAR.GZ and .GZ archives with automatic unpack of the files/folders in the current directory. In order to upload archived files/folders, you have to browse and select a desired archive, then check the box that will appear - 'Unpack archive after upload'.

Our new File Manager comes as a high response to the needs and expectations of our users for better, easier and quicker navigation between all hosted domains, files and folders. We sincerely hope that the new software will meet the highest demands of all our clients and set a new file management model in our fast developing web hosting branch.

28 Aug 2007 - Control Panel Maintenance

05 Jul 2007 - Improved Change Plan section in the hosting control panel
Our work towards adapting the Control Panel to your personal needs and making it as easy-to-use as possible has made possible another helpful update. Now you can find the Change Plan section in the web hosting Control Panel significantly renovated. Its new Shopping Cart interface presents the web hosting packages in a much more user-friendly light. You can now compare the features of the different hosting plans, so that your choice of the web hosting package, which is worth upgrading to most, could become a pleasant experience.

Change Plan

The Change Plan process is now broken up to two separate steps, which make easier your choice of the plan that matches your needs most. In the first step you have a description of your current plan's parameters, along with the plan's expiration date, followed by a display of the plans, which you could upgrade your current package to. When selecting a plan - you get a pop-up window with all the corresponding basic parameters in details.

Change Plan

For your convenience while choosing the best plan - you can hit the Compare All Plans button and get a list of all plans with their detailed descriptions arranged in a table.

Change Plan

The second step of the Change Plan procedure displays your new plan's choice in a Shop Cart interface and allows you to select the payment currency (USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD), as well as the method of payment (Credit Card or PayPal).

04 Jul 2007 - Signup new account directly from your web hosting control panel
It is our pleasure to announce that a new feature has been made available in the hosting Control Panel. It enables you to sign up quickly for a completely new hosting account when you feel that the current hosting account has insufficient resources or there is a new project should be started. That's not all - a new, Shopping Cart interface has been developed for the signup process with the main advantage to manage the items that are being ordered without losing sight of them.

Let's click the new Setup New Account link in the hosting Control panel and take a short tour through the steps of the signup process using the new interface.

Step 1: Select a hosting plan
Step 1: Select a hosting plan

In the first step of the wizard you will get acquainted with the web hosting packages that are currently on offer. Choose the Compare plans tab to review the hosting features and compare the plans that are available for purchase.. To proceed to the next step, click the Order button for the plan that suits your needs. Note that in the Cart table you can use the Change plan link to switch to another package at any time during the signup process.

Step 2: Select domain Step 2: Select domain

In this step you must select the domain name that you want to host in the new account. You can register a domain name, or transfer an existing one registered with another registrar. Of course, there is an option also to host your existing domain name without transferring it. Once you enter a domain name for registration or transfer and click the Add domain for hosting button, you must Add to Cart the domain that you like. You can use the Change domain link to change the domain name whenever you want.

Step 3: Account info Step 3: Account info

Here we come to the step where you must submit the information needed in order to create the new hosting account. The username of the new Hosting account will be generated automatically but make sure that the rest of the information in the form is correct, especially the e-mail address because the new account information will be sent to it. The information from the same form will be used for the WHOIS of the domain that is ordered for registration or transfer.

Step 4: Select payment Step 4: Select payment

Finally, we come to the last step where you must select the payment method that is preferred (credit card or PayPal). Take your decision which of the services that you have added to the Cart so far will be ordered or change the ones that you don't need. If everything is in order, use the Next button to complete the signup process and submit the payment.
As you can see, it is getting easier to work with our web Control Panel. Thank you for joining our community!
07 Jun 2007 - Domain Manager update: Automatic hosting of new domains
We are glad to inform you that our recently improved Domain Manager now has another new feature, which contributes further to its better functionality.
The new function is aimed at saving you time and efforts when adding a newly registered or transferred domain name for hosting to your account.

Being focused on making your work with the Control Panel much more intuitive than before, we have made it possible for you to choose whether the domain(s) that you order for registration or transfer are hosted, or are instead left with a "floating" status for use at a later time.

Furthermore, the system will check for you whether you need a domain hosting upgrade for your current hosting plan or it would be better to upgrade the entire hosting plan.
Thus, you will submit a single payment for all domain name costs and upgrades. For a better understanding of the pending charge, you will get full details about the services that you are ordering, when the WHOIS information is checked and the form is about to be submitted.
We trust you will find the newly implemented feature of the Domain Manager useful, taking the chance to assure you that lots more Control Panel improvements are yet to come.

07 Feb 2007 - Dutch language added to the Control Panel.
This innovative web hosting Control Panel is now translated and available in Dutch. Thanks to Mr. Paul Zwagerman, all clients from the Netherlands will be able to use it in their native language.

The addition of the Dutch language is a result of our commitment to offer excellent customer support. You can change the language of the web hosting control panel through the drop-down menu at the top right of the control panel as well as through the Customize Control Panel section of the My Account drop-down menu at the top of the control panel or through the Customize Control Panel icon at the bottom of the home page of the web hosting control panel.

If you feel confident enought and wish to translate this Control Panel into your language, please contact the support team. Your contribution will be much appreciated!
24 Nov 2006 - SPF Protection ensures your Internet privacy!
The hosting Control Panel has been equipped with another tool, designed to give you more control over your domain's sender policy.

SPF stands for Sender Policy Framework, and is an extension of SMTP that stops e-mail spammers from forging the "From" fields in an e-mail. As SMTP itself does not carry an authenticating mechanism, the SPF extension provides the authentication scheme by specifying which computers are authorized to send email from a specific domain. In order to use SPF, the domain sending e-mails must establish an SPF record that is published in the DNS records.

When the e-mail passes through the DNS server, it is compared to the SPF record for that domain to determine if the sender is indeed authorized to transmit e-mails from that sender's address. If the e-mail comes from a domain that is not authorized, the DNS server will not forward the e-mail to the expected destination.

Please note that these settings are for advanced users only!

For more detailed information, you may check the Show/Hide Help in the SPF section itself.
15 Nov 2006 - New features in Domain Manager
You can now perform variuos operations with one or more of your domain names simultaneously. Depending on the current domain status, you can renew registration, edit WHOIS information, edit DNS settings, lock/unlock at the registrar, register name servers and obtain EPP authorization key. Simply use the checkboxes on the left to select domain names and then perform a desired action by clicking on the corresponding button.

The registrar-lock feature is quite useful when you would like to secure your domain name and prevent it from being stolen. To check the current status of the lock, simply click on the icon beside a domain name. You can then lock or unlock it prior to a domain transfer. However, you should always keep your domain names locked.

Most of the top domain registrars now require that each domain name has its own EPP key. The EPP Authorization Key represents a code, which is required when authorizing domain transfers. If you would like to obtain the EPP key for a specific domain name, simply click on the EPP icon. An EPP key is available only for domain names registered with us and with status OK.

23 Sep 2006 - 23/09/2006 Downtime - flooded transfer switch inside the DC building.
As you probably noticed already on 23 September our servers were down for about 6 hours
The downtime was caused by a power loss. Here is the information that we received from our datacenter:

"The transformer room for the building, where our transfer switch is located is flooded.
From what I've been able to gather, is that the building's fire suppression system has malfunctioned and is pumping water into the underground transformer room, and has caused our equipment, as well as our utility provider's equipment Centerpoint, to automatically shutdown to avoid damage.

The Houston Fire Department is at the scene now attempting to shut off water flow and pump the water out, so that Centerpoint can begin work on restoring power."

The datacenter was able to resolve the issue and now the power has been restored. All servers are up and runing.

From now on, you will be able to register up to 50 domain names at once. For every single domain name search query you put, you will get a result showing you whether the particular domain is available for registration or transfer.

If you'd like to register or transfer the .com, .org, .net, .us, .info, .biz SLD of a domain name, simply take advantage of the multiple domain registrations and transfers we are now offering!
04 Aug 2006 - Domain registrations/transfers temporary unavailable!
We would like to announce that all domain registrations and transfers will be temporary unavailable on Saturday. Our domain registrar is adding a new data center in order to improve the quality of the services.

The migration will cause a short service outage from 01:00 AM GMT to 11:00 AM GMT on Saturday, August 5, so that these changes take effect. For our US customers, the outage will start on Friday, August 4, at 5:00 PM PDT, and will end on Saturday, August 5, at 3:00 AM PDT.

All domain registrations and transfers will be pending until the registration system is back online. Our Sales department will approve your account orders but the domain registrations and transfers will be delayed while the changes are taking effect. Existing domain names will operate without interruptions.

Thank you in advance for your understanding!
27 Jul 2006 - New features in the hosting Control Panel!
We are happy to announce that we have just added some tweaks and new features into our great hosting Control Panel. The quick and easy help tooltips now show over all icons on the Home page when you point your mouse over them.

02 May 2006 - Moving 100WebSpace service
We would like to inform you that within the following 2-4 weeks we will be moving all servers to a new datacenter. We are moving from dedicated servers to colocated servers. This would allow us to improve the quality of the service, because the stability and security of the servers will no longer depend on a third party company. The time needed for taking appropriate action in the cases of a server problem will be reduced dramatically which means that the average downtime will be also limited to a minimum. This is a big step forward for 100WebSpace. A new web hosting infrastructure based on a web server cluster will be implemented, the effect will be a faster and more reliable service for our clients. Our new server hardware will be as follows:

AMD Opteron 175 Dual Core CPU
4 GB RAM
2x300 GB SATAII in RAID1

The process of moving all servers to the new data center has been already initiated, within the next couple of days we will move the following servers:
freeserverhost.com, freeserverhost.net, freeprohost.com, freeunixhost.com, goldeye.info
mybesthost.com, everywebhost.com
hollosite.com, idohost.com
farvista.net
Then we will proceed with moving the servers:
freesuperhost.com, freeownhost.com
superihost.com, ifreepages.com, freefronthost.com, freestarthost.com
coconia.net
madpage.com, cogia.net
Should you notice any problems after a server has been moved, please contact our support team.
We will inform you every time we start moving a server by opening a thread in the "100WebSpace Announcements" section in our support forum. We will then update the thread informing you about the status. The expected downtime on each server is about 2 hours.

Thank you for your understanding!

Best Regards,
100WebSpace Team
